Dont worry i'll be in my Passat. Si will be in a BMW Turbo Dismal.

I have now booked the B52. I have also had a word with the Nightmares and The Splitterz (air cooled VW club) and they are up for it too.

Did any of you guys get to meet up last night? Sorry being a no show but having to get up at 5am each morning takes its toll on us saga rodders, weekends are always better for us -anyway, whats the word.

Bumper

yes mr Bumper man we had a little meet up, there was mr POPular, Mitch, Mike,Dell and myself, a few others who had hoped to be there were otherwise engaged. we had a chat about a few things, mainly about the B52 show, who we going to invite etc, but it turns out the guy who runs the place pretty much does everything for us anyway so it is basically turn up and enjoy! i think it would be good to have another meet up soon, either same place or somewhere different? although the white hart seemed a nice enough place. it was also good to finally meet Mitch (top bloke!) so now i can put a face to a name. we also spoke about the NATS and it seems most of us are in favour of having christmas there, so if anyone got a tree..... maybe next time we sort a meeting then perhaps a few more could come along, arrange it with a bit more notice so no more excuses!

Yea a few of us met up. The B 52 show on 1st April is definate.  All you need to do is tell as many people as possible.  I am sorting the web page and Ian is sorting the leaflets.

We do need someone to hand them out at the swap meet......Please!!!

We dont need to worry about boy racers as the owner is a rodder and wont allow them on his land!!!

Mitch is trying to find out if he will put on a BBQ, but that is all.  No need to do any thing else except turn up.  If we dont get many cars we will look bloody stupid but it wont cost as any thing!!!

lealflets will be designed over the weekend i hope. If only a few turn up I am sure we can have a great day and make the owner think it might grow in stature as the word gets about. I will send an email to andy willsher ( freelance photographer) who shot my car at the damn yankees last year to see if he or maybe another photographer will turn up. First rod run of the season, bound to work!!!!!!!!

now where is my polish and chrome cleaner.

tony your right about mitch - top bloke ( but rather bald!!!!!!!!!)

I'll put the Xmas decorations in a safe place until the Nats, don't think our tree will last until then. It's being blown about the garden and looks as bald as some of you guys!

Mine doesnt need much.

Just the back axle, front axle, front and rear discs and pads and bearings.  New floor and gear box tunnell.  The roll cage and belts. New seats and roof.  Apart from that we are there!!!!!

I dont wanna hear anymore of this cadge a lift, get it sorted and bring it, it will only take a couple of hours to fit them manifolds when you get them! there's people on here with cars needing more than yours (mine included), isn't that right Si? you are beginning to sound like someone i know with a v8 pa cresta that doesnt get used, you dont want to be tarred with the same brush do you?

I'm not being bossy Fi, Bod knows me better than anyone else and i hope he takes it the way it was meant to be! just trying to get him to bring his car along and merely stating that he has no excuse not to bring it! If his car is not ready to go at the time and Jan doesnt want to come then i will happily give him a lift. Anyway shouldnt you be doing some cooking or something? LOL

As i'm getting older i'm becoming a bit of a softie. I watched the news tonight and they told the story of a young boy with cancer who needs £375,000 to continue he's treatment in New York. It always annoys me when things like this come down to money! So i cancelled the meal we were going out for on Thursday and donated the money i would have spent at the restaurant to the appeal.

I was wondering if we could ask for voluntary donations at the B52. Not an entrance fee and i wouldn't force any one but it would be nice if our first event could help someone that needs it. The boys website is www.jackbrownappeal.org , have a look and see what you think.

very good idea mitch. maybe contact someone involved with the charity and see if they could come down to the B-52. i can put it on the flyer about donations.

maybe carry this through the season or whatever turtlespeed put on this year

anyone else agree

Any thing with kids always gets the old heart strings, but if we are going to raise money, then I think Chris charity is best as it has more relavence to us.

I'm always happy to make a donation to charity and think it's a good idea. I make a weekly donation out of my wages to help asylum seekers.

I agree with you both, they are both good causes, why not split the proceeds between both charitys ????
perhaps we could auction of some things at the B52 show/ meet ???

For those that haven't been there here are a couple of pics of the place. When the pics were taken the place was closed hence the chairs stacked up and the owner sitting round drinking tea with his mates. there is parking for about 200 cars in total.

That all looks bloody marvelous! never been one to get too involved in organising an event such as this I've gotta say credit to ya, what a great looking venue too, will be giving it all the support I can and definitely spreading the word. What an opener for the season and big plug for Turtlespeed, lets hope we as a group grow from strength to strength.
Been talking to Tailfin about the future of the AHRA and MMM. He will be putting a post up with a few thoughts and suggestions which I feel justify  some consideration and comments. Look out for the post!!!!

Sorry, we don't take plastic!

Back to the leaflet.......just one thing, do you think we should have 'For lovers of V8's etc on it? Do you think it sounds a bit restricting and elitist? Also do you think we should add something about air cooled VW's, scooters and motorbikes being welcome? As the show has had a positive response from the local VW club.

ha ha, no just a bunch of young lads i know driving saxo's and corsa's etc round the carpark doing doe-nuts etc, their cars look really nice with the stick on plastic accessories from halfords, 4 baked bean cans stuck to the rear bumper  pretending to be exhausts and of course the 'k & n induction kit'! complete with M&R sticker in the rear window!
