its onlysat in there on a jack an block of wood!!!! recieved my beam axle today so its all systems go on that, just looking for a c3 auto with flex plate and torque converter.
here where the column, steering linkage etc will live. everything is only mocked up at present, will have lots of welding,finishing once engine is out.
laid under hillman today getting burnt erm no welding!!! rear spring hangers finished and painted, gearbox x-member finished and painted. engine out next for a clean up&paint. finish welding in engine bay then a splash of paint.
got another clutch release arm, lets hope its the correct one this time. also got some new 15" wheels, to re-centre. for rear. brand new £15 each free p&p!!!!
hi matt, minx has gone to a fellow club member to do some work as i've not got enough room. i picked up an auto box and new rear axle. been told tonight that engine and box are out!!! cheers chris.
had a good day on the minx. rear shackles fitted, engine in, engine out remove gearbox, free siezed clutch, back together and back in car, clutch works ok, check propshaft, oh ****e 2" short!!! a few other bits planned out.

a little progress, speedo cable fitted(no idea if it will last!!!) steering all mocked up,just clean up, paint & final fitment. lots of looking, discussion, stupid ideas, bullsh.. etc etc
we got a few jobs done, strengthening plates welded into bulkhead for pedal assembly and servo/master cylinder with me on fire watch inside. fitted new rear brake shoes(not got drums yet) propshaft fitted front and back, i finished centre mounting once i got home.
yes i know i've missed a bit!!!
lots of talk about paint etc etc etc. and excellent burgers on the barbie!!!
as you can see pat is cracking on with the paint, having to remove all the grey & redoxide that some prat brushed on!!! :unsure:
todays progress was brakes all plumbed in(need longer front flexis though) clutch cable fitted, steering shaft fitted. does'nt sound a lot but nothing went to plan or as straight forward as it should of been. got a list of stuff to get, but jobs list is(hopefully) getting shorter.

most of trim removed, o/s headlight needs rivets drilling out.
this shows how much work pat is putting into body work, rear lights will be removed once wet sanding above them has finished.

lots of work involved with fitting servo/master cyl. all done by pat. this and clutch(converted to cable) all work of standard pedal box.
corsa 70amp alternator fitted, all custom brackets.
here you can just see the new sliding steering shaft, connected to a steering rack, and yes it all works correct!!! that was a big moment this afternoon when the wheels turned the correct way!!!
not a show winning build, but done to a hell of a tight budget.
back on its wheels, repair started on door. started fixing rad in and plumbing, but the old girl has been running!!!.......................yippeee!!!! sorry no video. pat has been busy rubbing more paint off.
more progress, rad fixed in,both cooling fans fitted along with top hose.
pat was busy rubbing down more paint work, finding more problems in the process.
i decided to trial fit the new airfilter!!! looks a bit tall to me!!!
me and pat then spent a little while with bits of string an pencils drawing circles, then cutting a big hole in hood, steel was about 1mm thick!!! strong stuff.
protrudes a little through the hood :D
from the inside, will look better with new scoop on. :lol: :D
Sweet, I had one for years, started out by putting a Perkins 4.108 diesel in it, Sceptre overdrive box. Did 110000 miles in it, took the Perky out and fitted a 2.0 Pinto still keeping the Humber gearbox, that was a very challenging installation! It was a right sleeper though, quite a quick old dear
