Yes I have! I know the car has a few issues but so far I'm pleased with the engine and gearbox, they seemed smooth on the way home!

the car came with an indicator stalk but it's the wrong one, not enough wires, I need six and it's got four.

Need to be able to run power to it somehow, or buy/swap for a new stalk.

will hopefully get pics up in the next day or so, though you and Steve have already seen it I guess?

got things to sort before I take it anywhere, need an indicator switch, and need to sort out why the brake lights aren't currently working.

have ordered a new battery and some paint to tart her up a bit.

anyone know if you can get metalflake paint in a spray can? Wanted a metalflake red for the roof.

You can get metalflake in a can but it isnt as good as the proper stuff and is probably expensive. get yourself a litre of ready mixed red metalflake in lacquer off ebay and i'll give you a hand to spray it thru a compressor up my lock up

Ohhhh , not deliberately stealing your idea. I did wonder what a metal flake blue/purple might look like over black, as i have a blue interior.

no  thats rediculously close to the truth.  The spot lights go back to nowhere. There are numerous live wires not terminated or insulated, the flasher relay was just tucked up in the dash and some wires seem to worryingly bypass the fuse box.

I've simplified lots of it, so now I'm hoping at the weekend I can get the essentials working and go for a little drive around without fear of catching fire.

Thanks :) . just need to order a stop lamp pressure switch now and I should be all set-ish (do you need full beam for MOT on a 63 car). anyway at least it'll be driveable on the remaining MOT if not.

Then I need to find an undercover space somewhere close-ish to Ipswich / Woodbridge to spray her up . Possibly order some Bullet Mirrors and Lower her a bit then I'm ready to join in some of the fun.

DOH!! wrong thread on the switch :( , however on putting the old one back in, it now appears to work. Maybe my accidentally dropping it on the floor did it some good, ha ha .
think I better order another though as this one is obviously faulty.

B*stard f*cking car had it starting well every time so I gets my insurance sorted, hop in turn the key and Clunk!
The starter Solenoid clunks, but the starter motor does not engage at all, not even a whirr.
Bad earth, faulty solenoid or knackered starter motor, B*llocks. I was intending to go for a drive this weekend.

ho hum, back to troubleshooting

Have tested the starter motor, it seems ok.
Have put new earth straps on and cleaned all the contacts
new solenoid should be on it's way ,turns out the old one had a barely visible crack right through the case, that cant have been helping matters!

Wish me luck chaps! glad the nights are lighter now, I will be able to get much more work done!

Cheers Cudley , will do.
Will look for a manual/guide on the type of solex carb I have and see how I get on.
was running fine a couple of weeks back, so somethings not right in there.

got it working, think the float was stuck having not been started for a while. just waiting for it to fully cool down so I can start again and make sure it wasn't a fluke.

just been for a spin , sketchy as hell juggling choke and throttle, it definately needs adjustment, but at least it's running
