Good Old EU 'NOT'

More sh*t from Europe, explained by the letter below.

Dear American Car Enthusiast,

American vehicles have been imported into the UK and Europe since the Second World War and are mainly owned by enthusiasts who have a passion for American cars and trucks. Indeed, there is probably no
other American product or icon in Europe that exemplifies the spirit of theTransatlantic relationship more deeply. Whether you are into new or classic American cars, the American car scene needs to be completely united at this time.

The latest proposal for a new Harmonised European Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) system will make the importation of new American vehicles (up to 6 months old) impossible.

There are MANY TECHNICAL PITFALLS-Here are just a few examples:

-American Headlights are no good anymore-This alone will BAN the cars-There are no replacement headlight for American cars

-There is a requirement for a full sized European Number Plate-this will require a NEW rear end to be fitted to vehicles OR UNSIGHTLY Modifications-Rear Bumpers are not made with the European Number Plate Space

-A full European Emissions Test and Noise test will be required costing thousands

The American Import Agents Association (AIAA) have spent 3 years working with the Department for Transport to get the CURRENT IVA into a position that is JUST ACHIEVABLE

HOWEVER this NEW TEST IS NOT ACHIEVABLE UNLESS YOU ARE A VEHICLE MANUFACTURER !

This goes against the whole spirit of IVA- "Individual Vehicle Approval"

The Voting in Brussels for these new regulations takes place in February !

There are rumours that older cars will be the next ones to be targeted.

The British Government is completely against this new proposal-and is very supportive of the American car scene in the UK.

Therefore, we strongly encourage you to send an email to your (MEP)

Please find in the link, the contact information for all the MEPs in Europe and below a draft for the email that needs to be sent to them.

Click here for listing of MEPs:

We do need the support of everybody interested in North American vehicles to keep the American Car scene alive

Therefore, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU E-MAIL THE LETTER and do not leave this matter in the hands of others!

WE NEED PEOPLE POWER - SO LETS ALL GET REVVED UP !! We are running out of time.

Please forward on this e-mail.

We really thank you for your support!

For anyone that wants to read a longer letter, already sent to Commissioner Kroes, the Commissioner for Competition in Brussels, click here

More potential crap from euro LaLa land then.
So far I`ve failed to see the point of being part of Europe,NO ONE as yet has been able point out the benefits of being a member that actually benefits me.All I see all the time is my money draining out thru the big hole under the Channel into other peoples pockets that as far as I can see do FA about anything......It then seems that my money then goes further on to increase the pension benefits of a goat herder...........................Am I being negative ?

I reckon the Big Yin should be PM & then we could all sing with one voice  **** OFF

Back to topic then,
I guess we`re talking really about USA made cars, not Chevy shopping carts, all Ford divisions,GM divisions, or Chryslers. or are we,perhaps that`s the first question that needs to asked,as in that case the current Mrs Chevy n me have both got American Mondeos made under license in Belgium.

As for going after older USA cars I`ve just had a look on the VIN plate of my Chevy & it says (some town in Europe). In fact it was made for the European market & so has amber turn signals on the rear & for ease of driving on their roads it`s left hand drive too.
I`d like to see them trying to ban an American made Rolls Royce produced under licence .

This is just typical of those wonderful eurocrats in belgium. Is this their way of trying to stop our fun? Maybe we could pay someone at an air base to fly over and carpet bomb the place after all how much damage would be done in such a sh**y country? Chocolates or not they deserve to be bombed
