, i have to brag a little. on hot rod house several of us started talkin about quitin smokin. one member had just lost a long time friend to lung cancer.this started the the small group to think and it took off real well. i can say with pride that my wife t j did stop cold turkey on april 8th.i didnt do so well for a while but now i havent smoked for 18 days. i feel sure i too have beat the habit. i know that most of the little group did quit. this is a big deal to me. ive smoked for 46 years. t j smoked 3+packs a day, i smoked 1 to 1.5 packs a day. the smokes were our biggest monthly expence!!!
Well done Geezer and everyone else. i gave up 5 years ago after smoking at least 20 a day for 25 years and was surprised how much more money i saved plus i breathe a lot better too! Good luck and stick at it, it will get easier but i dont think the urge for an occasional smoke will ever go away.
i second what all the guys on here have already said,im a non smoker .so ive no idea what the cravings like but im sure its bad. use your will power and your lungs and quality of life will improve im sure.

i gave up the smokes about 10 years ago and haven't missed them at all. with my medical history I dont think my doctor would like it if I did start up again!!!!!! It must make the beer taste better (if only I was allowed some!!!!!!!!!)
im sorry to hear that you have medical problems shrek. i hope your doin ok. them dang smokes have taken alot of folks from us over the years. im hopein that i can improve my chances of bein an old poot someday. and kudos to all of you who have quit. it was tough for a while.now im sure i wont smoke again.
hahaha, i can smell a cig 100 yards away!!i still want one now and in the mornin with my coffee but im not goin to smoke again. i really do want to leave em alone.more and more folks are quitin it seems. the dang price is another reason to quit.
sorry geezer - just realised you are over the pond - I quoted UK£ earlier, but it's still big dollar savings not smoking - keep it up ol' son .......... perhaps you could save up 'n come over to visit one day ..........
- yeah, 1st thing in mornings was hard for me too - especially with a drink - gave up going to the pub for a long time - remember: smellin's good, tastin's bad! - TTFN
the wife and i would like to visit the u k. our budget is in the crapper at this time. i havent done any hot rod work for about a year now. man i miss workin on the cars.maybe the $$ we save on cigs will help out.we were spendin about 20-25 bucks a day on smokes.
