we quit smokin!!!

biggrin, i have to brag a little. on hot rod house several of us started talkin about quitin smokin. one member had just lost a long time friend to lung cancer.this started the the small group to think and it took off real well. i can say with pride that my wife t j did stop cold turkey on april 8th.i didnt do so well for a while but now i havent smoked for 18 days. i feel sure i too have beat the habit. i know that most of the little group did quit. this is a big deal to me. ive smoked for 46 years. t j smoked 3+packs a day, i smoked 1 to 1.5 packs a day. the smokes were our biggest monthly expence!!!

Well done dude, keep it going.I managed to stop after 25 years on 3 packs a day.

Put the money you spent every day in a jar n then at the end of the month treat yaself to something.

I`m still a smoker but havn`t had one for 14 years.......even after this length of time there are still days when I get the itch

Well done Geezer and everyone else.
i gave up 5 years ago after smoking at least 20 a day for 25 years and was surprised how much more money i saved  plus i breathe a lot better too!
Good luck and stick at it, it will get easier but i dont think the urge for an occasional smoke will ever go away.

i gave up the smokes about 10 years ago and haven't missed them at all. with my medical history I dont think my doctor would like it if I did start up again!!!!!! It must make the beer taste better (if only I was allowed some!!!!!!!!!)

yeh, WELL DONE both of you - echo all the comments and add my congratulations - DO keep it up -

- gave up loads times for all sorts of reasons - but I always had problems staying stopped - untill the last time 12 years ago - never go back now -

- and oohhhh-hmmmmmmmmm, now and again I get a whiff and it do smell good!

Then I think of my kids, tastebuds, my smell and wallet and say : Nah! - not worth it!

some economic prod: 80 a day at £5.85 = £702/month £8541/year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry geezer - just realised you are over the pond - I quoted UK£ earlier, but it's still big dollar savings not smoking - keep it up ol' son .......... perhaps you could save up 'n come over to visit one day ..........

- yeah, 1st thing in mornings was hard for me too - especially with a drink - gave up going to the pub for a long time - remember: smellin's good, tastin's bad! - TTFN
