Bought a 4litre V6 Auto Ford Explorer on a R plate

Sold the supra and my van to get it wink but now i wanna start customising it a little

I have found billet steel parts like grilles etc but id like to put sidepipes on it at some stage and some nice sidesteps

Cheers

Yer looked on fleabay Uk and fleabay america

Theres quite a lot of bits outside the Uk for them like lights and billet stuff but couldnt find any exhaust systems but not a lot on there as usual with a Import or american tank

Only thing is the import duties and tax's prob make it more expensive than having a custom made system for it

Ideally id like side pipes with the covers/sidesteps over the top

already sourced a Billet Steel grill for it

I would like to get some Ghosted flames put upt he bonnet in like a greyscale tone but thats a while off yet

Other thing I was contemplating to put on her is a big A bar for a set of foglights/and or a winchbumper but struggling for them aswell in the UK

Struggling with which look to go for atm, id like a custom truck with all the chrome and the artwork and looking bling, always loved Lols Silverados etc and there look but obviously with a 4x4 it sits a lot higher in its stance, so im kinda thinking Jackup kit and chrome everywhere but thats likely to cost a fortune on that !

It still has to be a useable truck aswell as gonna be our daily drive now we sold the supra/van and prelude this is now our only vehicle as of from when we pick it up tonight.

Also heard that you can get different facelift kits for these like you can the silverados ?? how true that is i do not know

having been in Nessie's Zody with sidepipes, I don't like them. Unless it was due to the way they were fitted, but they were really noisy and you've got be careful with little ones as they get really hot.

problem is with no licence is, if they hit anyone (god forbid a kiddy) what then? imagine driving along in si's rover and a driver with no licence slams into it. no licence means no insurance, you wouldnt get a penny. them b*stards make our insurance premiums higher.

Jo wasnt sticking up for Pete. If he is driving with no licence then that is wrong. Within 10 mins of posting she had 8 emails, pm's and texts telling her how wrong it was!!! She knows that as we all do. She was trying to keep conversation light hearted in the light of a pending argument.

The point is, if you see him driving on his own, pull him out of his car and beat crap out of him, if you have a problem with him go round his house and have it out with him, but please dont use the forum.....we have just made some good friends in the US and really dont want to end up in a public slanging match again!!

Ta Muchly.

Just to add to this " for the record the only time I have ever driven without insurance " was when my B*tch of a ex girlfriend " owner of the sparkly metalic piece of crap ! " cancelled my insurance on it without my knowledge after we changed the reg plates, She to this day said it was the insurance companies f*ckup but i still think it was her spite !

And I got pulled on woodbridge rd with her in the car, Judge threw it out of court because he could see up until the date i changed the plates I was infact insured !

I dont do stupid things like that anymore, im a dad now ! and wouldnt risk taking my kids out in a car that was uninsured yet alone drive on my own and risk getting f*cked over anymore

Getting back to topic, I have a feeling that you're best bet is going to stateside. I think there was a advert for the snall lake pipes in one of Snipers Kustoms Illustrated magazines, will have a look when i get back from the skool run for you.

Just thinking about the noise & heat issue I raised earlier, might be slightly better in a newer car as opposed to Nessie's mid '60'sZody. Improved sound proofing etc, but still worth considering lil one before you invest in them.

Tootall's wife has got dummy ones on her pretty Minor for that reason. I wouldn't want to drive up to Ipswich from Cornwall with them a few inches away from my ears either! wink

There was someone on the UKK forum looking for them as well, but they wanted them for a Consul. (I think they were after lakepipes).

Pete, sidepipes are the wrong route for a modern motor like that unless of course you were going to slam it down to a lowrider.

I reckon she`d look better n perform better with less noise in the cabin & fumes in traffic by running two 3 1/2" pipes out the back...one on each side n leave it at that.

Cheers chris

I ordered some parts for it today from the states

Amazed at how cheap some the stuff is

Picked up some wind deflectors for £23 delivered off ebay Uk

And a billet chrome grille from Grilles4u for $68 shipped to my door

Been looking at aftermarket rear lights but cant find the sort of thing i like, dont want lexarse style or anything to tacky, I like the sort of aggresive look so thinking smoked lenses lots of chrome

Will have a look at custom exhaust systems at some stage, I know the system I got made up in the past for the Tigra was straight through system by warrior motorsport and cost £450 so might be able to get a company such as them to knock a powerflow system up or something aftermarket thats a direct bolt on

I am a supplier for Mongoose/Scorpion but would have to enquire as to wether they make a direct fitment system for this model ( prob unlikely as its american ) but worth a look

Cheers for all the help

Pete

I'll second that, plus for the cost of buying em and modifying everything to fit etc you'd probably be quids in getting a standard one or a cool Pipecraft job, plus you'd be more likeley to get pulled over with massive loud sidepipes (a big no-no eh!) Anyhow she looks nice, well done fella smile
