Some friends opposite me have joined turtles. This is Anitas Bug project which is nearly ready for MOT. Hopin it will be ready for April 5th.
Hi there all turtles my name is anita and as stevie said I have nearly finished my little beetle. She is a bit ratty at the mo. cos I haven't been able to paint her yet. I am a novice mechanic but with stevie's and my hubby justin's help I have been able to do most of the work myself. I sure am lucky to have a mate like stevie, who knows quite a bit about bugs now as he has done so many lol. Hope to meet you all on april 5th.

Cars don't get old, they get a v8. Its not how it looks,it's how YOU see it that counts.
Berta is staying standard until I decide what look I want for her, and when I do do her I will ask my good friend steve to help, cos he is more knowledgable than I am where beetles are concerned.
Took berta for her first drive yesterday just up the road and back, sweet as a nut.
Will see you at southend ur wings aint gonna fall off, specially if you tightened em down enuff.

if you bung stevie a drink , i reckon he'll paint the originals for you cos he's a dab hand with the paint , aintca stevie , once the warmer weather gets here.
Yep ill do ya wheels neet. Gotta get bods bits done first an ill be able to get ya wheels done if ya like. Weather is startin to warm up so i can finally get on very soon. Did a quick potatoshop yesturdee.
Yeah its a tried and trusted bug look. original empis will cost a fortune but you should pick up a set of repros for about a hundred kwids. New adjustable front beam i fink is about 150 kwids then you have to convert it from left to right hand drive. Secondhand are still expensive cos they have already been cut, welded an converted. Rear suspension is a fairly easy mod by adjustin the settins on the rear A arm (irs) or sway bar (early) and torsion bar/spring hanger. As long as everyfing unbolts it can be done.
Oops fergot to add piccy. Near to cream as i could get wivout it lookin white.
If I was going for a nice looker, and keeping away from the $$$$ engine 70s cal look stuff I would go for something a little like this...
Chromies (which are about £50 each, with baby moons). I would obvoiusly lower it and most beams are already converted to right hand drive. Go somewhere like SSP or Cool Air.
If your having it repainted I would dechrome it, color code the headlights but leave the rest chrome (bumpers). I would also paint the running boards body color, and if you have the 1200 rear lights swap these to the all red US spec ones and add Blue dots.
If you want Empi's go on Ebay you can pick up lots of bits on there....failing that Moon Discs have also been a good bet. Just ensure you get proper moon ones than aftermarket lets find a hedge ones.
B289.com is the website for all things 80s Cal Look.
I think this is more you though...after all 80s Cal Look in the UK started along the A13 in Leigh with El Ritchie!
There is one bug called "Cal Chick" from the 80s that I would love someone to replicate. It was an F plate, with moon discs but they were painted orange into yellow, and the rear lights were snowflakes. The front wings were changed to pre 67 sloping and a long bonnet and rear decklid were also added. Its a typical So-End car much in the spirit of mine....
Mike Key a true legend on the left at the photoshoot of "Homage" in Westcliff replicating the original picture of Rick Pearmains bug that I have done my car as a Homage to.
Go with your imagination, than the standard route of doing the same as everyone else.
Same car but in 1996 - in its "Lemon Meringue" guise. Flush fitted 39 teardrop lights (ala Billabug), Porsche Fuch's and most importantly an uncluttered simplistic look. This was my first show picking up best Cal Look and interior on Santa Pod Drag Strip.
Be warned, it can end up being a money pit especially if you go down the route of bigger engine. However if you keep it simple in looks, it can be better sometimes than a stomper such as this engine in the back of Homage - 1835cc with hot bugpack cam, autocraft rockers, Kennedy racing clutch, dual 40 Dellortos, electric fuel pump and fan assisted remote oil cooler for the full flow oil system. Engine has been detailed to match the car with lemon and chrome, and with hidden wiring.
