Just a quick question! I took the Hillman minx out for a drive today as its been sitting on the drive for a few weeks. And I didn't get far when the car started slowing down so I pulled over and the brakes locked up the pedal was really stiff so I checked there was plenty of brake fluid.. pumped it a few times and hey presto everything was fine? My question is why would this happen? Would the cold and the fact I hadn't been using the car for a while have anything to do with it or could it be something more serious?
sometimes it does happen when its been standing for a while, it happened to me works truck over xmas which is only 3 years old and serviced. use it more often is the answer if it still happens then i would start looking at the obvious.
does it have servo assited brakes,if so without the engine running ,pump the brake pedal until it goes realy hard. then start the engine keeping your foot down hard on the brake pedal .the pedal should drop a small amout, this shows the servo is working.also check the servo pipe work from the intake manifold to the servo. other than that id sugest inspecting the brakes making sure its all as it should be. hope that helps.

Hmm brakes are working fine now, Maybe it was because it sat around in the cold for too long? Hopefully that's the case. If it happens again I think I'll have the calipers looked at. Thanks for the info!
