any ideas


my van engine has got a rattle!!  i last used my van yesterday & it was running fine. went out  to start it earlier & it now sounds like a pinto with a shot camdoh !!  i know i dont have a pinto, just its the only way i can think of describing the noise.

Topend or bottle end rattle

Has one of the Tappets come off its mount ? they can pop the springs sometimes

i think its the top im going to have a look tomorrow in the day light.  if it is the top im not shaw what side.  so iv got to pull half the dash apart to get the  engine cover off. it has got a 350 v8

Header Gasket,warm her up n then see if the bolts are loose.Nipping them up may cure it for a while,but a new set will cure it properly.

so when was the last time you changed the oil?
maybe its due fresh oil and filter as its best to keep on top of it if they are hydraulic lifters

oil was last changed about 800miles ago i change oil & filters regularly with god quality oil.
