At last remembered his password and broken in. This is Mrs Shrek - Firstly I would like to thank you all for the love, prayers and support you have sent Ian (shrek) and our family and to let you know it is working. He has been so ill for the last 3 weeks and now we are starting to see some major improvements. He is currently in Romford ICU and they are pleased with his progress and just waiting for him to be moved back to Colchester as soon as they have a bed. Last night was my best visit, he was off the heavy sedation so was able to be with us a while longer than usual, his heart rate and blood pressure had calmed down and mainly breathing on his own although he has a tracheotomy to assist, this looks like it maybe be capped soon if he stays well and then he maybe able to talk. They believe they are on top of his chest infection, the main infection will take longer to sort out. He communicates by mouthing words a little, and lots of raising of the eyebrows, he is able to nod slightly and last night was able to move his head a fraction for no. By his reactions he is able to still show us he still has his sense of humour!!! He is still unable to move his left side and has weakness in his right too, but this can all be worked on in re-habilitation and manipulation when he is well enough. (Looks like I will be driving the Camaro this next year so will have to get used to the taste of John Smiths! ). We are amazed with his recovery and so grateful to all the staff at the hospitals, he is far from out of the woods and we still have some dodgy things to go through, but after almost losing him 2 weeks ago we are delighted with the strength he has shown to come this far. He knows everyone is routing for him and when he does eventually come home you will all be invited to a massive party. I will let you know when he is back in Colchester and if anyone wants to visit him please do. Thank you all again for your support, and on behalf of Ian and our family we wish you all a very Healthy, Happy and Peaceful Christmas and a prosperous and mechanically free 2009. with love Juliexx
