Whilst i done the consul it took a back seat, intention was to get it done once the consul was finished but i kinda lost a little interest as i was happy tinkering with and using conny. Last week i suddenly got an urge to get zody done, unfortunatly with it being 10 miles away and with work getting in my way i dont get a lot of time to do it. a couple of days a week between now and the NATS and i might just get it ready in time! a bit of welding, fit new carpet, put the brakes back on, service engine, fix dynamo, refit front side lights/indicators, a bit of cleaning and tidying up and a few other little jobbies and she should be ok. funny fing is, i started her up for the first time in ages the other night, i then decided to gently move her backwards and forwards just to get everything moving and forgot myself and drove her into me garage forgetting i had no brakes aint it strange how although i knew the brakes wernt even on the car i still pressed the brake pedal to try and get it to stop! fortunatly i didnt do any damage as there was some junk in the way and it stopped me
Got no chance of it being at the NATS this year, started on the welding and me welder has packed up so it kinda made me lose a bit of interest again. am still buying a few little odds and ends for it so it will get done eventually, one for the autumn i reckon.
Well, Autumn is here and sure enough, work has resumed on the zody. I spent all day last Saturday having a bloody good clear up in me workshop (i even dumped some stuff!). What was gonna be a quick fix job is gonna be a bit more now that i'm not in any hurry to get it on the road. I've got it running beautifully now and all it needs is the pair of stainless steel harley pipes i bought off ebay fitted on the back and it'll sound lovley! I've got me paint man on the case sorting a few touch up's here and there but i havnt told him yet but i might get him to give it a covering of red metalflake! get me front calipers overhauled, brakes bled, few holes welded, new carpet and a tidy up in the interior and she's a good un! ---he say's, knowing it's gonna take months........
glad to see you are resuming work on the zody by what you said the mechanical stuff should'nt take you to long to do once you get yourself motivated and i'm sure stevie will soon get the paint work sorted red metalflake over black looks the mutts nuts (thats having it subtle like on a trans-am i've seen)
The Zody is so close to being ready for mot but i got 2 concerns with it, 1 drivers door is a bugger to open sometimes 2 the car leans to one side a little (50mm to be exact) and i think (hope!) its the front suspension leg as i have another pair on order. but sod it im fed up not having it on the road and missing shows galore so im gonna see if i can get it motd in the next week. i took the car out for a run to the petrol station last week and was well happy with the way it drove.
i fink the door handle is fixed now, the bonnet hinge snapped when i opened it a couple weeks ago but ive welded that up. the back brakes are being a bugger, i thought i'd sorted them then found the rear cylinders had siezed! ive nearly finished overhauling them and had 2 new rear brake pipes made up so hopefully with a good day on it this saturday it should be ready for mot very very soon. Ive become very frustrated with it in the last 2 or 3 weeks cos just as i think im there something else goes wrong. As for being at the NATS? hell yeh! i aint going to the NATS without it!
well some progress was made today, sorted out rear brakes and fitted new brake pipes and bled the system. Also changed the flasher relay over as the one on there was the wrong un and now they flash at the proper speed! Also changed engine oil AGAIN! took it for a ride around the farm where it stored and also took it for a couple of blasts down the road and it runs drives and stops well but now i got another problem to sort.............poxy seals leaking in rear axle and oil going over the brake shoes
Tony, i think thats call "sods law". it will all be worth it in the end . just hang in there and keep going. my mates all thought id never get that v8 in my trumpet ,but the more they said it the more it made me want to prove them wrong. and im well chuffed i did it and proved them wrong.
