Its winter clocks gone backSo I have decided its time to re-paint the engine on my 49 Caddy, will post pictures as I go though the work.
As you can see the engine generally is crap so pulled the heads, water pump and inlet manifold, totally de-greased the engine bay (went to B&Q for paraffin) pulled the valves out de-coke new gaskets and re-paint the engine with paint from Eastwoods POR15 Cadillac blue.
Bores were in good nick some carbon build up on the heads but used a brass wire brush to remove this and will lap the valves in tomorrow night after work and then re-paint the heads, manifold and water pump.
Your pics bought it all back to me.Two winters ago did a total rebuild on the 57 every nut and bolt top to bottom. At times i wish i hadn't started but was well worth it in the end.Hope it all goes well mate.
Just lapped the valve in with the valve lapped that connects to a drill so much quicker and then dusted off the spray gun and painted the heads, inlet manifold and water pump. painting the block tomorrow night. still needs a bit more cleaning and going to repalce the core plugs whilst out!
