The show as always was a good chilled out event, with classics and customs mixing without to many problems. Good turn out from the VW boys as well this year.
For the first time due to mods and rodders, modern cars were allowed on the show field. Now they are not to my taste but though I dont like the tigra can understand the amount of work that has gone into it, unlike the Rover 75 with silly chrome wheels that was there.
The main reason we had in the past ripped mods and rodders was because of the way we believed these young car owners acted. We didnt like the fact that they thought it was adult to ride a mini moto around pc world car park or a remote control car round the car park at 11pm.
For that reason alone we said no to them coming to the b52 show.
Well manningtree, which is billed as a classic car show, held an olive branch for them today and it was abused. The reason Lakeside closed was not because of the 'boys' but because we didnt want to have their music rammed down our throats (ears).....Today they did just that. Instead of saying thank you and letting people see their cars, they cranked up the bass. Having been asked to turn it down once, an hour later they were asked to turn it down again. Bearing in mind 50% of Manningtree are over 60's with original cars, they struggle to understand our cars!!
It didnt ruin my day, but it certainly pissed me off. I went to buy a drink and while there a man was complaining. He said he had a club with 80 cars and he would leave if it wasnt stopped!!
I think yet again they have proved us all right. They are childish and abuse any trust offered to them. Im glad they wernt at B52 and pray that if they are stupid enough to come to the nats they are clever enough to camp some where else.
Here Here Si,As we know from the past its hard enough to get the brit classic boys and the yanks and rods on the same field as it is.We have grown to admire and appreciate each others cars.These sound off ****s are gonna put us right back to square one if we ain't careful.God forbid something like that happening at the nats.As we all know some of the guys who attend are meaner than a junk yard dog and take no prisoners.Ther nuff said..

Glad it was great weather - they deserved a break after a couple of damp years what a great turn out. Must say I agree with Bumper on the Best in Show choices - both nice and I wouldn't say no to owning either, but straight out the show room Then again I didn't vote so I can't complain!
All in all a nice selection of vehicles to browse - although what on earth that bloody Rover was doing on the field I have no idea - at least he did turn his boom box down when asked, unlike the other **** who was really spoiling the day for the biker guys who could hardly hold a conversation without shouting. At least they kept major hopalong busy so he didn't have time to have another pop at Bumper
Lastly a to Ian for the commentary - IMO he does a great job, knowledgable, witty and with his years of experience delivers an easy to listen to amuzing narrative switching smoothly from vintage Brit to Classic Custom to military machinery without casting judgement, taking the mickey or being a nurd.
Oh one more to the footy club for running a reasonably priced bar, £2.30 a pint and £2.70 for Magners with cans at 80p - makes a change not to get ripped off as you do at some shows.

If you ever get the chance to talk to him, do. He , as Ruth says has such a vast knowledge of all things automotive. He is open minded enough to chat about the hot rods as well, although his first love is the old fire engines, oh and Ruth's Terraplane.
And he used to own a Humber.

i thought lakeside cruise ended due to the burn outs getting outta hand and coppers lining the way out to stop them! i can remember sitting in a smoke filled anglia and smelling of rubber for days
Well said Mr P, you actually wrote pretty much what I wanted to say in another post yesterday but held back for fear of it getting deleted. I'm glad we're all reading from the same page on this one, I hope it ends here as we all now know for sure what to expect from such groups and I think an Email to the NASC outlining those events wouldn't go amiss either, it's not like you would need to make up or exagerate on anything at all as there were to my knowledge at least 2 'official' warnings, we even have one on film! Tailspins right there too, we could all get tarred with the same brush from this one and it could be another 'classic' event that bans any form of modified vehicle from entering, so maybe an Email to the Manningtree organisers wouldn't hurt either if only to make it clear that we as a Yank/rod based group are in no way assosiated with M&R , I know one or two on here have mentioned making a personal complaint also.
YES, well said mrP, tailfin, bumper etc. these boom box car owners just proved they havnt got a clue how to share a show with the rest and for this reason should simply keep to their own shows! I for one have sent an email to the organiser of the Manningtree show firstly thanking them for putting on a great show but also having my say in the matter of these idiots who could ruin a bloody good show . Lets hope these boom box boys keep away from the NATS because as said before theres gonna be big trouble if they try and mess up our shows! why dont they just keep to their own shows or if they have to come and have a look just simply park up somewhere in a corner and keep quiet. thats my rant over!!
No disrespect to anyone here, but agreed regarding the Rover75. Why was it there? It had nice wheels and a boom box, but does that make it a classic, a rod or...errr...errrmmm... yeah. Not trying to be nasty, just wondered.

Boom box cars should be banned because as its already been said these morons only have their music box to show off to joe public and play that unrecognizable bass din that only people with I.Q's of -38 can understand. that blue and silver reject from the original buck rodgers series was one main culprit and if thats the shape of things to come I feel sorry for the old boys with classy motors like that superb standard 10 which in my books was a real show winner.
