That post needs reading a few times to take in all the points discussed . I will be very pissed off if that feckin Tigra or any other modern bean can cruises round the nats all weekend with thier feckn boom box going lookin for the 'sound off' area. Hecklers alley will be in full swing I can tell ya. If the NASC are wellcoming them open arms at the nats then they better stay away from me coz I ain't there to see or hear their ****. Buster (the dog) will piss on every wheel  and so will I if the mood takes.Several other points I'd comment on but don't want a forum war or Duece spitting his well worn dummy out  at us again. But the Nats weekend is something I look forward to all year and just the thought of that lot movin in really gets me, picture it now. NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thankyou.

Pissed off, mood on,signing off. goodbye.

I'm keeping out of this as they already think of me as the Devil (not a bad thing). I haven't been on M & R for a while now as it winds me up. Me and Si used to go to lakeside cruise in the late 80's until it got ruined by modern cars and i we used to go to chelsea until it got ruined by modern cars but i cant see it happening to the Nats. I think the organisers are sensible and they know how it would wind people up if they start going in force. Did anyone see that Subaru being driven way too fast at the last Nats? I heard they stopped him from driving around completely. Kind of sums up that sort of person don't it.

Has any one looked at the pics of last years nats on the nasc website?

Nice audi tt!!!!  Perhaps thats the start of the change!!!!

I was part of a scooter club that set fire to the marquee at a now infamous scooter rally at the isle of wight many years ago............

Perhaps we should invite some hot hatches and max power.....wheres my zippo!!

As for m & r.... despite there views I used defend them and their members (except cruise central who is 100% prick) until a couple of weeks ago when accusations where made about me.

So from now on **** them. I have no problem with any one provoking any of them!!!

as i'm not one for joining your average immature, sad, car clubs, it would seem to me ( and this is my own personal opinion) that whoever M&R actualy are that they obviously in need of some serious psychiatric help !!! I have never read sutch a load of old t*ss in my life. their idea of moving this hobby/ interest supposebly forward sounds more like the final death throws of a dying insect.

the nats has always been for hot rods (proper ones not there version) and all other wonderful cars of that ilk that we all can appreciate and love not these japanese shopping trollies with neons and bass bins. the only sound you should have coming from a car is a burble of a V8 !!

The nats will be a sadder rod meet if these four wheeled **** heaps are allowed in. Havent they got enough shows of there own to attend? there are more british printed car mags for those boom box boys than mags for our end of the sport or hobby whatever you wanna call it.

If they do make it to the Nats its up to people like us to voice our displeasure to those who create the show.

I ****ing hate boom box cars and I wont even call them mod rods as rods they are not.

long live the V8

just another thought on this we should all get together as one happy family ethos ****.

Looking through many street rodder and american rodder mags can anyone please show me any likelyhood of the american rod scene ever letting these rice burning piles of crap anywhere near a proper rod meet as they have all over the states. Simple answer : it would never happen you have more chance of GW Bush joining mensa!!!!!!!!!!!!

Proper cars go to proper rod runs ........................... the rest just dream of having a proper car!!!

well in some ways i feel anyone should be allowed to camp and do the rod runs etc,  when i was 17 i had a triumph herald, my boyfriend had an anglia and our `burger van` mates [ boy racers] had mk2 escorts a 2 door sierra[ with ironing board style tail spoiler], marina, mk 1 fiesta xr2 lookylikes, capri... etc. and we all enjoyed the nats which was the first one that was at great leighs.

without us being welcomed , half of us would have proberly not `developed` in the way we did.... at that age id not really seen such a fantastic lot of customised/rodded vehicles, some of the first lot of `boy racers` that i camped with still go, they have great motors now,  we  all have to start somewhere.

each to their own, some people are tossers whatever they drive!

Sorry to drag up old threads.....! Have checked this out: Pre-1979 seems to apply to front wheel drive vehicles only from what I can see unless "RADICALLY ALTERED". I must say I can't think of any late model cars which are going to get on the showfield, given current feelings!

I'm well known for driving Sierras but I personally go to the Nats to see Rods and Kustoms. I'll be there with Mrs JS's mk1 Escort on the 'field, a 3-door auto Sierra probably parked by my tent, and hopefully my arse sat on a scooter! (No, it STILL doesn't go....)

Agree with what is being said here as i am a recent convert from gary girl to (eventual) rodder, but IMHO the diferance is there are those, obviously like you and me, who came, saw, appriciated and blended into the scene, and then there are those that, like certain MandR members, came, saw, try to change things and stick out like a spare pr*ck at a wedding. I agree we all have to start at the bottom, and yes we should encourage younger people, BUT it is not for everyone and if it isn't for you f**k off, don't try and barge in and try and take over or change things like certain people have done and are doing.

ok there's my 2pence worth, i'll go away now

you tell em doris . i'm with you girl . you walk into w.h.smith's and there,on the shelf is custom car , and further up is max power .
they have their mag and we have ours , they have their scene and we have ours .
they have their venues and we have ours .
these two things are worlds apart ... its obvious to any normal person ..
but still you have your tits on the mods and rodders site saying can i park my tigra on the show and shine field at the nationals .....god ,give me strength.
the sooner this sh*t is sorted out the better , but if they are reading this and they need it spelt out , here it is ..
you do your thing and we'll do ours , but could you do your thing somewhere else.

you don't need to persuade me, i'm with you, all the way, but also remember it was only 3 years ago i was running a 386bhp vauxhall cavy and running with the local gary boys, if you lot had've turned me away, i would proberbly still be there. all i am saying is that just maybe there are others out there like me (then again maybe not too much like me) that upon seeing what it was really about become a complete convert, a FEW SELECT people deserve a chance to see that we are nice people.

I am taking all this in for weds to see if i can come up with a solution that will suit all.

Of course, i am not having a go as i said before i agree with all of your first comment i just feel bad because i have been on the other side of the fence, therefore feel a bit guilty and feel that i shouldn't feel as i do. Please don't misunderstand me. Yes i feel your views are extreme but i also respect your choice and hope you would be able to do the same, as i am sure you do.

dont feel bad, and dont feel guilty, but the fence is a good point. its always been there and its always will be . it just boils down to knowing witch side you want to be on.. cos (my opinion)there aint no middle ground.

sorry bod but i dissagree with you there,if thats your veiw then you would loose at least a quarter of the cars at the nats. what about all the cars that have been modified after 72 and rods that have been scratch built.

Well good luck with that one Doris, I don't personally think you will find a solution. Everyone has their own views and with all the crap that happened last year you are probably best to leave this one well alone! I know the vast majority of us on here are against sharing a field with hot hutches, just take a look at the flyer for B52 April fools run! My view is pretty much the same as Bod except i am more welcoming of modern American stuff. I also have no problem with fibreglass rods. This point will always cause arguments and the way i see it is if you want it then join M&R,  us at turtlespeed dont go for crap looking Tigra's etc and that is why we are here, not an official club, just a bunch of hot rodding pi$$heads who are out for a good time.

The simple facts are you don't take a f**king rugby ball to a football match and visa versa.T heres nothing wrong with these kids coming and having a look at what we do,but don't park your tigra next to my caddi.

Aren't you lot bored with this topic yet? i am. If you ask me its all about attitude, when a young bloke turns up at a custom show in what ever car and looks at a proper custom you can tell within a few seconds if he wants a car like ours or is happy driving his normal car just by the look on he's face and maybe the questions he might ask you. Me and Simon used to go to car shows at the Rayleigh Weir in a mk2 Escort long before they were cool, but it was obvious (i think) to everyone that we were converted. So let them come to our shows and enjoy themselves BUT DONT CHANGE OUR SHOWS TO CATER FOR THEM.

i agree with mitch first impressions last and i first saw custom cars years ago at the old ardleigh crown pub when the colchester custom car club met there and charlie potter had a red 57 chevy. i first went to santa pod in 78 and saw Al's gasser roll and since then I have been into V8's and yanks motors. I have never aspired to evo 6's and M3's and all those who follow the boom box traight should be given the chance to view our cars but they should park their cars in the public car park with the rest of joe public.
Like its says you either get it or you dont and thats the rules

dell, you musnt take me saying 1972 to heart .its just a line i have drawn in the sand . people were chatting ,the other day , about what justifies a car becoming a classic and i chose 72 .its not cast in stone , its just me ranting .
i'm not angry about seeing cars built after 72 on the scene...i 'm just angry with the modern sh*t ,and i am letting of some steam .
thats what i like about this site,no rules and regulations,no judge or jury .just car talk from like minded poeple

(if we lost a quarter of the cars on the nats showfield then we could get more early fords in)
