It usually tells you if the picture is too big when you try to update your profile. (Or at least it does on some of the other forums)

Used as avatar on two other sites so thats not the problem, also looks crap and hazy if you put it any bigger than 4x3 so is meant to be that size.
Oh and mitch.. you pic just comes up as a box with a red cross on my screen as well, that might be due to your internet security settings.
