Wanted.......Herald Roof

Keep ya eyes out Dides n Dudettes...

I need an un-cut solid roof for the Herald ( Saloon)..The webasto fold back leaks like hell so it`s either silicone seal it up or preferably put another one on.The roofs on these and the Vitesse are bolt on so as I`m taking this one off to do all the weaterstripping I may as well replace it at the same time

Ply eh ?
That`s an idea.I reckon you mean a sheet of 1/8th marine ply bonded across the whole roof then covered in 1/8 foam n then finished in black vinyl..

or did you mean just fill the hole ?
It has also been suggested too fill the hole with a perspex panel held in place with glazing rubber ?

Thanks for that Mr B.
That was posted on Retro rides too with a tel no.Nice bloke, got a V8 in a Herald which he`s changing the body for a T which is why he`s passing everything on.Being in Wolverhampton meant a bit of a treck

But,after careful measuring of the open areas etc etc I`ve found out that a Herald roof wont go into a Mondy Estate unless you fold in two !

Good news...I`ve been given the nod that there may be one up for grabs in Ipswich.

It means coming to southend first but your welcome to borrow my pick up truck Chris.

I wouldn't use perspex in the roof insert but you could use polypropelyne its the stuff they make riot shields out of. Remove the outer polished metal trim of the roof panel, squirt in some mastic and put it in place, more mastic then the outer metal trim. I could get a price for you if you get the measurement and I can also tint it most colours using transparent vinyls. Would look kool.

Then we can get some metalflake vinyl in the same colour and have a metalflake stripe down the side!

Wouldn't cost too much and would look great.

Oh, by the way, the ply roof comment was a p1ss take!

Thanks for the offer on the pick up !

The marine ply idea really is starting to sound good though......I could even put it down the sides of the car & turn into a Woody mmmmmmmmmmmmm

I bought (and sold) this in december. The stripe down the side i did in vinyl, as its what i do for a living. So if you fancy something like that let me know. There is a lovely range of metalflake vinyl available now.

Hmmmm...... Might be a bit tricky balancing the wheels up. Could cover them in kitchen foil to make them shiny too......
