BIG Car show - Next April? - HELP NEEDED

For the last couple of years I've wanted to organise a large car show, a camping event (or caravanning) that brings together Customs, classics, bikers and scooters.
BUT I have always wanted to do it entirely for charity.
Due to losing my mum to cancer last week its made me determined to do this.
I've found a large field behind a pub near Burnham on crouch in essex where the National Chopper Club hold an annual rally which i can get for free.
My cousin is part of the NCC and said that he will get the bikers there.
I've got one sponsor so far, Urban Ink Tattoo studio in southend (Cheers Billy)
So thats a start.
But obviously there is a lot more involved in a bigger event like this than the shows we've held so far, but judging by their success I'm confident this can work.
I haven't got a date for it yet but I quite like the time of year of the other turtlespeed ones, beginning of April so will aim for this.
I'm happy to do as much as i can, I'll make all the signs (that is what i do after all!) hopefully be able to get a couple of bands, DJ  etc.
The help i need from people at the moment is just suggestions to help make this work, and maybe ask around to try and get some sponsorship. All sponsors will get recognition on the day and will have banners with their names on etc.

Ideas for things to do would be good too, obviously, we cant do a burnout comp or anything like that but perhaps ideas for day time entertainment would be good.

Thanks

- well done - perfect idea - having lost close family myself to vs. cancers - I am similarly motivated ...........

- how 'bout sponsored rides on yer' rides - I'm sure many joe public would pay for a chance to ride a mean/dream/custom machine - even over a grassy field for a few minutes at a time -

eg: at Kimbolton this year the Honda Goldwing Club took people around a course for a fee raising money for good causes ........... it was very popular -

- if I can help out in any way I will -

Dont think the beer tent will happen, think the reason why the pub is giving me the field for nothing is cos they will make money by people going in there for beer.
Live bands are a definite, as is auto jumble.
Like your idea too steve, only thing is that they did that at a local fete a couple of years ago and some stupid cow sued the organisers as she burnt her leg getting off the bike.
Will look into it though.

V8 V8 yes go for it just use a normal rack as if you use a power rack the engine has to sit higher on the mounts.

- big F'off sign at gate: NO STUPID COWS ALLOwED!!!!!!!!

or - get them (stupid watsits) to sign a disclaimer beforehand .........

+/- get a friendly insurance company to underwrite the risk for a bit (loadsreally) of publicity ...........

-an' ------- entry ticket includes a voucher for a drink at the bar (in the pub of course) - rake off the commission + get loadsa quedos (priceless!)

Update ....... had a chat with my car ins brokers and they told me it would be hard/near impossible to get any Ins cover for a pay per ride type activity + it would need to be run round some legal people as well ......... more cost cost cost ........

however - way round is: get the SOC's to sign an indemnity 1st .......... that way you've less likely to be sued in the event of an SOC falling or wh.h.y. -

- he (Paul) wasn't averse to putting up for some publicity for the show however and I'll send pm with his contact details etc. - it would be worth a chat -

- he also suggested contacting the sporting bears club at: http://www.sportingbears.org.uk/ - as they do similar car events for vs. charities -

- v. worth chatting with them i'd say .......

set up a free web page about the show and on ALL adverts etc you put out sate
"SEE WEB SITE FOR RULES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS" and clearly state where they stand on such matters.

Thanks for all the advice so far. I spoke to the National Chopper Club and i think we will probably combine it with their regional rally next summer so will be a bit later in the year.
They usually get 300 - 400 bikes their. At the turtlespeed shows at the B52 we've got around the 160 cars mark both times and that was without trying too hard so hopefully this should be good. Combine that with camping, a pub, lots of day time activities, and an entrance fee (inc camping) of about £6 this should be good.
