got a compressor and gun here duds, happy to help out where i can mate.
cans are the easy route but work out dearer in the long run and you wont get as good a finish. they tend to leave "lines" in the paint when you hit the light right. setting a gun up is easy enough just get the right pressure on the compressor gauge.
Im not a pro or anything, just do it here and there as a hobby but,as i said, happy to help out if i can.

Leave in a warm place over night before you start and make sure you shake and keep shaking the can. Dont keep your finger on the can. short even strokes. If it doesnt cover properly its better to go back for a secong coat than to much on the first coat, thats where the runs and curtains come from...........I have got to say I am a real amateur though.....stevie knows far more than I do about paint!

I did these red stripes with a spray can. Ive got a couple guns but had no red paint at the moment. I was told it would like like crap, but they sell some auto quality paint in cans now. Less is more in the use of a can but it can look good if you keep that in mind.

2 weeks after the application I gave them the 140 MPH test, well quite a few times now and they are still holding on. And you cant tell they are from a can, everyone laughs when I tell them I used a can. Oh ya the guitar is with the same paint also !!!!!!!

Sorry for the question, but being from the states things are just different here. By Mini, you mean Mini Cooper, correct? Ive got the R1 engine down from the crotch rocket Yamaha. Now what drives the wheels, front or rear? Chain or shaft?

This post has made me come up with a new abreviation like the LOL, its SSS. Being sorry so stupid !!!!!!!

Hi Its the proper old Mini, and the engine is chain driven with no reverse gear.
They sell the kits for around £3,000 in the Uk, there is one in the UK running 2 R1 engines at the mom and yes it fast

Thanks stevie, yep I came around to everyone's way of thinking and after sorting out the bottem of the front doors, I went for it. Glad you like it. Still got the boot and roof to do yet, and I may alter the bonnet, due to heat issues.(in black the bonnet holds so much heat, you could fry an egg on it when it's had a run)

The flames were painted free hand by Kris,I watched carefully & have since bought a stater kit to have a go at striping myself.
In the case of flames over a big area that you want to be the same both sides you use chalk firsty as reference points & then as mock ups.

- not sure if I'm allowed to advertise: but I thought I would let you all know that I bought some spray cans on the way home tonight and the shop

(in the Woodbridge Road)

I visited was offering 3 cans for the price of two ............ wow!

- the 3 cans cost me a total of £10.58 = £3 and 52.66666666666666 pence or so each - is that cheap ? - dunno - sounds like.........
