i guess you could do it with a sbc and just add a few extras on it.poss change the cc with shorter con rods i belive its called a stocker kit, real steel do the kit.ive never built one to 500hp so i cant say for sure.

No the only V8's are Range Rover using a variation of the old buick v8 which they have used for 30 years. BMW and Mercedes etc. I am not sure but I dont think any of them are over 6.6.

There are probably some small independant car builders building an exotic car with a v8 but I am not sure...I dont really like modern cars that much so dont keep up with the latest models!!

Oh I just realised, cherokee etc come with a v8 if you want but most people have the diesel.

i personly go big block, a good base motor to start with. then i would give jc whitney a call for a stroker or rebuild kit, a mid range cam with intake to match, port and match the intake and heads and a good old holly on the top and headers and see what happens.

thats what im thinkin.you allready got most of just havin a big block.it costs a lot of $$$ to get 500 hp out of a small block.i'm sure tango could build a 500 hp small block pretty dang cheep, but thats tango.most folks cant do it without alot of $$$

depending on aplication of the motor i.e street or strip would determin the best motor to use !!
either can be built to 500 hp on a reasonable small budget..
