Anyone had any probs with there car brakes freezing

Went out this morning in my daily

Got a 98 R  Registration Fiat Marea 20v ( The fiat coupe engine ) Weekender Estate HLX, Ideal car for the kids and plenty of space and comfort

Got in it, released handbrake engaged drive and let the clutch out and car pulls forwards and smoke starts belowing from the rear wheels, They were locked on solid, after a little investigations it would seem the Handbrake was frozen on !, I managed to rock the car in gear and knock it off but was wondering if anyones experienced this problem before on any of there cars or if anyone know how i can solve it in the future, I was thinking just park with handbrake off and in Gear until summer otherwise !

Any suggestions

Cheers

Pete

a lot of cars have the rear brakes freeze on normally a touch of reverse will release them maybe they require adjusting

you must have a f###ing stupid fiat its got 2 gearboxs manual and auto plus a sensible driver would realise that the brakes was on long before smoke started to appear (not unless you were p##sed)

I have to agree with what Mark say's Pete, auto and manual? you engaged drive then released the clutch? confuse
by the way i had no problems in my car with leather heated seats, cruise control, traction control, heated mirrors, heated steering wheel, heated cd player and my excellent auto manual transmission! biggrin
