Looking for a bit of advice and guidance i got a mk11 humber sceptre and its in need of a major heart transplant.......!
I wanna change engines but dont know weather to go for a rover v8 or something else.......with the v8 option do i need to cut inner wings out or not....and how much work am i looking at.....?
Or if anyone got any other ideas on engine to use would be greatfully appreciated.......!
I think it`s about £450 & is complete ready to run.........Do you want me to find out ?
There is a Holbay rebuilt advertised in the Humber Club mag for £500 collect from Newcastle. Spec says bored 60thou,1725rods n crank with 1500 flat top pistons giving 1800 cc.Uprated valve springs & c/w tube ex manifold.......
mmmmmmmmmmmmm,I reckon I`d be looking at period tuning on this car, although the V6 is alloy n theefore it`s weight may equal a cast 4 pot you"ll still meet bulkhead & trans tunnel issues

Holbay lump is very quick and pretty much a bolt in job, I did put a Pinto in a mark one once, that was quite good, it was mated to the overdrive box which was a bit of a trial but I got there in the end, lovely old thing, cheers Neil
The Holbay thats already in there is great, lots of tuning goodies, sounds good, BUT it could do with a new carb, sort the carb out and you'll sort out the economy and hopefully the reliability. It will work out a lot cheaper than fitting a new engine.
rover v8 all the way.it may take awhile to get it to fit but thats what a mig welders for lol. i had to cut out my floor and bulk head to get my v8 and box to fit the way i wanted it.but it is worth it,just make sure you measure up correcty before you start the cutter up lol.
