Hi all Been beaveing away on Ruby (yes amazingly i still have her) and shes starting to look quite nice. She has new wings, a new bonnet, a new deck lid is on the way, and ive been prepping and painting to make her look a little more respectable. Ruby before. Looks ok in the photo but she was very scruffy. Ruby during. And nearly done.

Still got a fair bit to do yet. Repaint or replace the wheels, finish painting the rear quarter panels etc. Then its twin carbs and sports exhaust and the 1641 pistons and barrells will hopefully be replaced with 1776's. Should have a good 100+hp by that stage. Not a lot but in a Bug thats pretty potent.

Looking good stevie, I think I would have painted her red oxide, lowered her and left the roof rack on!!!
A bit more proffesional than the last Beetle I painted, which was with Fitzy in Sainsburys car park at 3am on the way to run to the sun in the late 80's!!!
We measured and masked stripes with bits of speaker wire.....damn we were good!!!!
Essex Police took quite an interest in what we were doing.....dont know why, we cant have looked suspicious!!!
