Right seeing as your all asking what's gone on with mersea, here's the story. After Owen and i split up last year, mersea were not immediatly informed of this, not something that was at the fore-front of my mind given the situation, i wrote to them around october asking for all communication to be sent to my new address and when confirmation for dates was needed i'd sort it out. This apparently was either not recieved or not noted down so i never heard from them, by the time i heard anything it was through someone else that the dates had been lost to another event. Owen has offered to deal with this as i am off to university not long after, for 5 years, so technically it's my fault for not checking they had the correct address for me. so by all means shoot me.

Firstly I am sorry about you and Owen, but the fact remains that if you found that you couldnt deal with the position as chairperson [for a short while ]the first thing you should have done was delegated someone else to deal with the show details, as you say a letter was sent but if you had not had any feedback a phonecall would have been a good idea.
I trust that there is to be a new chairperson to carry on while you go off to university? - as the future of the club should be a priority.
This is not intended to be a mud slinging post, just a few pointers for the future, from an ex chairman.

yes, the chairperson situation has been sorted. and as much as i hate to leave the club i figure my future has to be my priortity at 25. i can't say too much here obviously until it is confirmed at the next club meeting. but i can say that contingency plans for after i leave have been discussed.

...its a shame that the show may not be a succesful this year, and what if the correct weekend is not available next year?

Best of luck with university...................

The show has never clashed with Billing! in the early days it clashed with the BHRA run...

Quite frankly I'd think it far better to wait until June to judge whether this show will be a success or not.

This is local show for local people.

I understand fully Diggers feelings on this one with him being a founder member of AHRA and the MMM show. What is a shame is that this year for whatever reason and we all have a little understanding on this is that the only available date left at short notice happens to clash with a major national show for like minded followers of the MMM. At least something has been booked and the show will go on, its numbers may or may not be affected, I think a big number of regular paticipants and spectators will be at Mersea  regardless of the date and we wish it every success. We will miss not being there, Billing it is for us by choice only as we really enjoy everything about MMM.

mmm has been a growing success every year. Billing is billed as one weekend you will never forget but mmm is a cool lazy day out and I will be there with my camaro. sometimes a step back is better to regroup and work harder for the next year. Loads go to billing but loads  more dont go anywhere so maybe target those people and watch for the cars to drive throught the entry gates.
good luck to owen and all at the ahra
