Number plates

Ok, heres a question which will probably make me sound a bit thick (whats new?) but im curious....
My car is a Danish import which has obviously been re-registered (in 2003) for uk use.
What happens to the old Danish number? Does it stay with the car? Is it "sent back" to Denmark and re-used? I found the original plates and its quite a smart number. Probably worth a few quid to the right person too. Im going to put the plates on the car when i take it to shows to give it an authentic left hooker look but i just wondered what happens to the original plate when re-registered. confused

I found out that the original number is discarded so its mine to do whatever i want with. Just not for road use. Cool.
