Hey Necktie, for once you may be right about something! I think I do need that valium you mentioned in another post. Thinking of putting (ah well ,here goes) a.................................................................BBC in my next truck, there I've said it know so I'll carry on,I'm ducking already for the comments i'm about to recieve but hey! I've found a good web page with engine dimentions on but there's nothing quite like the real thing if you know what I mean.So do you still have that knackered block and maybe a head I could swing into the bay and just see what'll work, if it does fit then that's the way I'll go, I had contact with a guy in the States who had done this with little modification but I've lost the contact. Open on engine options right now all I know is its gotta be big with manual trans but I'm back on the Chevy as first choice. Can ya help?
cheaper to build, cheaper on parts, good reliable motor...
engine option , best of going for a basic two bolt mains 454 truck motor !!!!!
Aren't some blocks taller than others? what's the interchange probs if so. I'm aware there are other 'specific' truck BBCs which are slugs and have next to no performance options. I'll get to call you about borrowing the block and talk thro' options. Are you up on manual gearboxes for these? I have had m21s and 2s but what else is there?...Tremecs read good, have more gears and come with different shifter positions but hell they're pricey.Suppose anything'll go with an adapter plate. In the '41 I had a toploader re-worked in the States, they take out all the internals and side shift linkage , put in complete new internals and mount a new top plate and shifter that fits just great in 40s yanks, I'd use another one of those without any hesitation but limitations are 4 forward gears and a 5th would help with the fuel on long trips but it's not a deciding factor.
So, ya gonna chuck that 302 in me humber then jerry?
this is another truck I'm just getting into so sorry the 289 in the current ride ain't goin nowhere, nor's the truck for that matter, jnr got his eyes firmly on it. Do have an early 60s 260 ci SB Ford for sale tho' also an 8BA flathead with gearbox.Coupla trucks, all sortsa **** if I look.
