the only light they let me see is from the window in my padded cell........................................but the doctors reckon with therapy and support I will over come this ford phase!!!!!!!!!!!!! the doctor reckons its a bit like having a mental breakdown , except all you want to do is drive something that keeps breaking down , and leaving piles of rust behind it !!!!!!!!!!! So heed this tale of woe bod and get yourself straight to the doctors!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but then again I disagree !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any old car can be ok....even a ford............ but at least have the good sense to power it with a decent chevrolet engine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not a mopuuuuurrrrrrrrr...
If you are as common as muck then I'm sure a Chevy is a real good engine.
I would type more, but Ive got to go and have my foot X-rayed......Just tripped over another Chevy!!!!
pedigree "!!!!!!!!! ha,ha....i've seen the pictures of you ..pin up boy !!!!!!!! the only reason your foot hurts is because youve had to push a broken down ford again................. be seeing you at the xmas tree???????
Only a chevy driver would challenge a street car with a strip car!!!!!
Still the advantage of mopar is less cubes, more torque....still in for a penny in for a pound
Now, do you want to boast about how you beat me whilst running the standard 318 or do you want to wait until next year, when the big block is in it?
strip car ha.ha.. I was going to race you with the prefect !!!!!!! get your finger out .....get that big block in ...we'll aim for the end of the year shall we ??????? and I' ll be challenging you with a street car ,.. not a strip car ????????? watch this space ?????
I have never taken a car down the strip in anger and will be up for it. Not in a serious way, but I think we should all have a go. Shreks got a 440 under the hood of his Camaro!!
There is no point in building a gasser if I never use it!!!
The big block needs some time and money, so this winter is getting it set up and the new engine built ready for next year. Does this mean your Camaro is hitting the road, or a new project (100e?)

simon, have you been drinking???? I wasn't aware that shrek had a 440 under the hood??? by the way my "camaro " is a 1969 SS chevelle.... any way why wait until winter ??? send that old tractor engine over here and we'll sort it out???
Have I been drinking....now that was a stupid thing to say!!! Only 2 bottles of red cos ive got to get up early and be in lancashire for 9am. Im sorry, I dont know why, I thought you had a camaro....Deepest apologies
Bloody Chevys all look the same!!!
The big block is in bits under the work top....to much else to do for the minute, but Im thinking it might have to have a big belt and a nast whine!!!!

nasty whine !! know where your coming from but i'm afraid you'll need more than that to make a mopar perform ????
Mr POPular wrote: but the egine will be the heaviest part of my car!!! you have 10 tons of detroit pig iron!!!
I agree your car will be lighter than mine !!!!!! probably all the rust thats fell of the ford... ha.ha anyway according to mitch the heaviest part of your car ain't the block its the driver????? surely that can't be true???? I heard you were a model ?????

This Ford V Chevy thing is starting to get on my tits, it will probably go on 'till the end of time but lets give it a rest on here. For those of you with little auto historical knowledge HUDSON in '51 to '54 were top winners in Nascar winning 78 events!! Olds coming in second with a measly 48 wins. And that was with their 'ol flathead 6pot!! Marshall teague was Nascar champ for Hudson in 1952 winning with more than a thousand points ahead of any competitor. It wasn't until Chrysler brought out the hemi did Hudson have any competition.(Ford and Chevy weren't even in the frame)Hudson had been winning and setting new records since they began in 1909. IE.... Hill climb records at Pikes peak, Mt Washington and Lookout Mountain, the original auto tour de france.Performance records at Bonneville, Datona, endurance records nation wide. The list could go on and on. You want something with history and pedigree.... Buy a Hudson....

well its like this. you can please some people some of the time, but you can't please every idiot all the time...... Oi, bumpy,,,, love the history lesson!!!!!!! not...... but saying that and having digested what your point of view is........i.e. vintage hurl...sons, nascar, hill climbing at pikes peak, etc...and what with your classic pickup I am now convinced that you are a red neck........................ha.ha.
dell wrote: if the hudson lump was that good bumpy why is your pickup running a 302 FORD !!!!!!!!!
Another short history lesson for the un-informed, Hudson re-designed it's flat 6 with the introduction of the 'stepdown' in 1948 which means it's a totally different animal to what was originally in my truck..... truck also being a key word as even today very few commercial vehicles get the same spec. engines as their passenger vehicle equivalents. What with that and the 'commercial rear gears yes my truck originally was a slug but a 65 year old slug that probably earned its keep the hard way as most pickups do but it's here today and if only it could talk, what tales it would have to tell! Hudson were also one of the first to build cars using the 'unit body' construction (starting of course in 1948)
steady on bumpy !!!!! me and dell were sitting here having a civilised discussion about chevy's and ford' s.........what else ?????????? but reading your reply we have both nearly fallen asleep ......yawn..yawn....

Are you two thinking about how to weld the doors together on each side to make one big one, you might just get in it then! you should've known they didn't make those little girlie cars in your size, or are you building a tot rod.Good practice for when you buy a real car again I guess.
dell wrote: he's turned into a victor meldrew ha ha. thats what you get when you collect and drive realy old stuff, all's needed is a flat cap.
even victor meldrew has a sense of humor!!!!!!! but then again so does bumpy ?? you've seen what he drives.................................................. anyway victor meldrew wouldn't be seen dead wearing shorts like that.... ha.ha
