Last year, as members of a couple of classic car clubs, we were asked to complete a survey for the Federation of British Historic Vehicles. The results of this survey have now been published and make quite interesting reading.
67% of all historic vehicles covered less thann 900 miles in the year of the survey, with 20% of those doing less than 300 miles. Last year we did 5000 miles! 83% of historic vehicles are used less than 3 times a week. Why own an old vehicle and not use it???
30% of the people that completed the suvery earn less than £20,000 a year. Who said classic car ownership was only for the rich?
41% of owners were between 41 & 60 yearsof age, 6% were under 40! 47% aged 61-80 and 2% aged 80+. 97% of owners were male.
That's just a taster of the results, would be interesting to see the results if rodders had been asked the same questions!
